What we can help with
We accept complaints about financial companies and professionals in Washington State. This includes:
- Washington state-chartered banks, credit unions, and trust companies
- mortgage lenders and servicers
- consumer loan companies
- student loan servicers
- payday lenders, check cashers, and check sellers
- money transmitters and currency exchangers
- virtual currency and cryptocurrency companies
- escrow companies and officers
- investment professionals and franchise sellers
If the company is not regulated by DFI, for example a national bank or an insurance company, contact the right regulator instead.
What happens after you file a complaint
- We review it to see if the company or person is one we regulate. If not, we will point you to the right agency.
- We usually send your complaint to the company and ask them to respond. We may also contact you for more information.
- DFI cannot give you legal advice or act as your lawyer. If you need legal help, contact a lawyer or your local legal aid office.
