NMLS

The first phase of the modernization effort for NMLS is live in the system! The enhancements improve the login experience, however, if you haven’t recently signed into NMLS, now is the time to do so. The first time you access the modernized NMLS, you must make updates. Users are strongly encouraged to log into NMLS before November 1 when system usage and calls to the NMLS Call Center skyrocket.

What steps do I need to take now?

Ultimately you are going to log into NMLS and follow the system prompts. You will notice the NMLS login screen looks different, but it has all the same functions.

  • Go to the NMLS Resource Center and click “Log into NMLS”
  • Enter your existing NMLS username and password. If you have multiple accounts, use the one that is most familiar to you. This will be your NMLS login.
  • After accepting the terms and conditions, you will be required to enter an email address. Users are strongly encouraged to use a personal email address as it will be used for account recovery.
  • Follow the steps to verify the email
  • Select “Additional Recovery Methods” and either enter another recovery method, like a phone number, or continue to NMLS
  • Individual users may be prompted with a final verification screen before being directed into NMLS

What other tools are included in Phase 1 modernization of NMLS?

There are several other enhancements rolled out in the launch of phase one, including:

  • The ability for users to consolidate the accounts under a single login. For example, an individual may be a company owner or officer as well as an MLO licensee. Currently, they have one login for the company and one individual one. By consolidating the accounts, they can access NMLS with a single login and then switch between the accounts.
  • The ability to more easily manage your user profile in NMLS, including adding or changing account recovery options.
  • The addition of feedback surveys in NMLS where users can share their experience in the system.

Company users who work with MLOs, please encourage them to log into NMLS now to make the required updates. It will help ensure a smoother renewal submission.
