DFI Mortgage Assistance Team Expands

Our Mortgage Assistance Team (MAT) is welcoming additional members to the team. As you may know, the MAT is the program the Department developed early in the pandemic to respond to consumers with questions about mortgage forbearances. The MAT was made up of Financial Legal Examiners who took on many questions from residents about the various impacts of the pandemic – from tenants and landlords, to the recently unemployed.

With the end of mortgage forbearances coming at the end of the year and student education loan forbearances possibly coming to an end sooner than that, the Department is concerned about its ability to handle the number of calls. For that reason our Exams Team stepped in to help. Three Financial Examiners were added to assist with the expected influx of questions.
