About

The Securities Division of the Washington Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) received a complaint from a Washington resident regarding a purported investment platform using the name New Mountain Capital Foundation.  The investor was introduced to the platform through WeChat. New Mountain Capital Foundation appears to be impersonating New Mountain Capital, an SEC-registered investment adviser.

New Mountain Capital Foundation claimed it could facilitate pre-market trading.  The resident made cryptocurrency transfers to fund the account and the platform’s dashboard showed that he had purportedly made more than $2.7 million in profits.  New Mountain Capital Foundation did not allow the Washington resident to withdraw his investment principal.
