In 2023, a Washington investor met two individuals that claimed to have successfully invested on the website crytponomy.fi (“cryptonomy”) over the course of several years.
Cryptonomy had the investor purchase XRP and XLM cryptocurrency. The investor deposited the funds into “launch accounts” that allegedly locked up the funds for 6-12 months in exchange for a promised return. When the investor tried to withdraw funds in the fall of 2024, he found that he could not access any of the funds.
When the investor inquired with Cryptonomy, he was told that his account was moved to a “fixed” account where he would not be able to access his funds for an additional year. These facts match previous reported cryptocurrency scam allegations against other websites operating under the name Cryptonomy Finance Ltd.
