We are happy to announce that our Financial Education Blog is back! Every Wednesday you can expect a new blog post on a financial education topic of interest for the people who call Washington State home. The blog posts will cover topics on what DFI’s Financial Education & Outreach team is currently working on, resources from our various partners and organizations, and news and updates in the financial education world.

Are you or someone you know interested in working in the financial services industry? If so, apply today to be a part of our mentorship workshop this summer!                                                       

The Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), is working with bank and credit union association partners to offer a four-day mentorship workshop for young adults seeking hands-on knowledge and exposure to the various careers available at banks and credit unions as well as careers regulating these financial institutions. 

When is it? June 17-21, 2024 (with June 19 – the Juneteenth holiday - off). The first two days, Monday and Tuesday will be in person at Bellevue College. Wednesday there will be no workshop in observation of the Juneteenth holiday. Thursday will be at a financial institution local to the participant, and Friday will close the program virtually.    

Who is it for? Young adults – age 18 or older - including recent high school graduates, current college or technical school students and recent college graduates.  

Applications will be accepted until April 30. Participants will be notified of their selection for the workshop in early May.  To learn more about this workshop, visit our website here. Apply to participate in this workshop here.  

Application requirements: 

  • Be at least 18 years old. 
  • Provide their own transportation to the workshop.  
  • Commit to attending and participating in all days of the workshop. 
  • Applicants do not need to be enrolled in college to participate in this workshop. 
  • Provide their own housing if they do not reside within the standard commute range (30-90 min.).
