Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)
License Renewals
All Loan Originator licenses must be renewed on or before December 31, 2009. DFI strongly encourages MLOs to submit renewal requests by December 1, 2009 to allow enough processing time. Renewal requests must be submitted through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).

Report Your Continuing Education to DFI
Renewal Steps
Follow these steps to renew a LO license:
-
Attestation And Renewal Submission
Log into your NMLS account and attest to your individual record. Once your record is attested to, a renewal request can be submitted in the NMLS. This involves paying the renewal fees via credit card or ACH. -
Continuing Education
After submitting a renewal request, Standard LO licensees must report their education via DFI's Online Reporting System. Interim LO licensees or those who completed 20 hours of NMLS approved pre-licensing education will have their education reported directly to the NMLS. -
Renewed License
Once DFI approves your renewal, a 2010 license will be emailed to the address on the NMLS record. This is the only copy of the license which you will receive.
Need further assistance? The NMLS Renewals Quick Guide (PDF)* outlines the steps for renewing your license on the NMLS. The NMLS Call Center is also available at (240) 386-4444.
Tips for a Successful Renewal
-
Know Your NMLS User Name And Password
In order to submit your renewal request via the NMLS, you must have your user name and password available. If you do not know your user name and/or password, contact the NMLS Call Center at (240) 386-4444. -
Ensure Your NMLS Record Is Up To Date, Especially Your Email Address
Most communication about your license is done using the email address on your NMLS record. If that email address is not current, you may miss critical information, including your renewed license. -
Complete The Required Continuing Education
Check DFI’s MLO Continuing Education page to ensure you have completed the correct amount and type of continuing education to renew your LO license.
