Welcome To The First Escrow Newsletter
A Message from Deb Bortner, Director of Consumer Services
I am so pleased to announce the first edition of the Department’s Escrow Newsletter. I hope it will become another useful communication tool for us to share regulatory news with the industry. Our goal is to reach out to you through this newsletter at least twice a year.
Speaking of communication tools, we also spend a lot of time keeping our website up to date for our industry customers and hope that you will check there regularly for news and events.
You can find the website at: http://dfi.wa.gov/
For those of you that do not already participate, we also hold quarterly meetings of the Escrow Commission which is always open to interested persons from the public and industry. Check the department website for dates, locations and times of the next meeting.
I understand that this has been and continues to be a challenging time for the financial services industry and providers. I hope the Department can serve as a valuable resource for you and partner in helping your business to be successful.

Incomplete Applications
A Friendly Reminder
Please remember that incomplete applications take longer to review and increase the amount of time it takes to receive a first license and make license changes. Please read application instructions carefully and submit completed, signed forms with all the required fees and documents.
DFI will begin rejecting incomplete Escrow first license and amendment applications that are missing basic information, documents, and fees. An applicant will receive a warning that the application will be rejected if the missing information is not submitted within 30 days. If the information is not received, the application will be rejected and any fees submitted will be refunded. This rejection process is already in use by our other licensing programs.
