Washington State Department of Financial Institutions

Consumer Alert:
US Loan Assistance Center

December 01, 2011

The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) is warning consumers to verify the license of any lending professional with which they are considering doing business. You can verify a license online at www.dfi.wa.gov. US Loan Assistance Center was reported to be offering to provide loan modification services to consumers for an up-front fee.

US Loan Assistance Center Providing Unlicensed Loan Modification Services

US Loan Assistance Center is not licensed by DFI, or registered to do business in Washington by either the Department of Revenue or the Washington Secretary of State.

US Loan Assistance Center has been associated with an address location of 1800 Firethorne Place, Ste 101, Corona, California 92881, and a telephone number of 1-888-900-8752.

DFI’s research indicates that the original company may no longer be active; however, consumers are cautioned that these types of operations are often closed under one name and re-opened using a different company name.

Washington State law requires all individuals and companies providing third-party loan modification services to Washington residents be licensed by DFI. Additionally, the Federal Trade Commission’s Mortgage Assistance Relief Services (MARS) Rule prohibits entities from requiring upfront fees prior to performing loan modification services.
